On 26 September 2025, ALFIE proudly hosted an Affiliate Session as part of Digital@UNGA, the flagship global platform powered by ITU and UNDP that highlights how digital innovation connects, empowers, and transforms lives.

Our session, “A Digital Tool Towards Understanding Ethical and Legal Applications of Artificial Intelligence,” brought together world leaders, innovators, and changemakers at UN Headquarters and online to explore one of the most urgent questions of our time: How can we ensure AI serves humanity responsibly — and inspires us to imagine better futures?
Affiliate Sessions share the same mission as Digital@UNGA’s Anchor Event: to spotlight how digital can connect, uplift, and empower. As part of the official programme, they expand the Digital@UNGA stage to include diverse voices, solutions, and innovations from every region and sector.
Our panel featured five outstanding experts whose perspectives illuminated how ethics, accessibility, inclusion, and education intersect in the age of artificial intelligence.
- Christa Schmid-Meier (University of Teacher Education in Special Needs, HfH), explored the inclusive potential of AI in education and the role of digital tools in supporting diverse learners.
- Maud Stiernet, AI and Accessibility Consultant, emphasized the importance of accessible design, ethical standards, and age-appropriate approaches in emerging technologies.
- Dr. Estella Oncins highlighted the links between AI, media accessibility, and participatory design, focusing on inclusive innovation across immersive environments like VR and AR.
- Prof. Dr. Birgit Phillips discussed AI literacy, ethics, and responsible innovation in higher education and society.
- Eve Gaumond, legal researcher, examined how AI impacts privacy, equality, and democracy, calling for stronger governance and accountability.
Together, they represented a multidisciplinary vision of AI that is ethical, inclusive, and profoundly human.
From these discussions emerged a shared realization: ethical AI is not just about building better systems; it’s about nurturing wonder, curiosity, imagination, and reflection about what technology means for humanity.
This spirit gave rise to (A)I Wonder, a campaign that invites people everywhere to pause and reflect on the ethical and societal dimensions of AI. Over the coming weeks, ALFIE will share thought-provoking prompts from each panelist, inviting our community to engage, imagine, and shape a responsible digital future together.
(A)I Wonder celebrates the beauty of asking why and what if. It’s a call to approach AI not just as a tool, but as a shared human project; one guided by empathy, accountability, and creativity.
We extend our gratitude to ITU and UNDP for amplifying these crucial dialogues through Digital@UNGA, and to our remarkable speakers for sharing their insight and passion. This Affiliate Session marked a milestone for ALFIE, reinforcing our mission to promote ethical, responsible, and innovative AI for communities worldwide.
