Last Friday, the ALFIE project proudly participated in the European Researchers’ Night, an annual event celebrated simultaneously across Europe with the goal of bringing science closer to society and inspiring the next generation of researchers.

This year, ALFIE was present in three different locations, reaching audiences of all ages through interactive activities and discussions:
- Nicosia, Cyprus – Our team took part in an engaging event designed especially for young aspiring researchers. Participants had the chance to meet scientists in person, discover the latest research, and share their own questions and ideas. The enthusiasm of the students highlighted how important it is to create spaces where curiosity and scientific dialogue can flourish.
- CosmoCaixa, Barcelona – In one of the city’s most emblematic science spaces, ALFIE offered an activity focused on how artificial intelligence can be aligned with human needs. Visitors explored real-world examples of AI in action and reflected on what it means to design technology that supports society in ethical, transparent, and responsible ways.
- Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Cerdanyola – At this hands-on science fair, our activity focused on ethical AI. Through interactive demonstrations, children, young people, and adults explored how AI systems make decisions and what researchers can do to ensure these systems remain fair, inclusive, and human-centred. The workshop sparked lively conversations about trust, responsibility, and the role of technology in daily life.
Across all three locations, the atmosphere was full of energy, curiosity, and genuine interest. For ALFIE, the European Researchers’ Night was not only an opportunity to share our work, but also to listen, learn, and connect with people who are directly impacted by scientific progress.
We are deeply grateful to the organisers of the events, the participants who joined us, and the many children, young people, and adults who brought their questions, ideas, and excitement for science. The night reaffirmed our mission: to ensure that artificial intelligence is ethical, transparent, and always at the service of human needs.
