The 11th EST Congress, The Changing Faces of Translation and Interpreting Studies, was held at the School of Languages, Cultures and Society at the University of Leeds from 30 June to 3 July 2025.
As part of the Congress, a workshop titled Industry-Academic Collaboration: Research Impact in Translation and Interpreting Studies was organised and facilitated by Pilar Orero and Anna Matamala, representing the ALFIE consortium.
Anna Matamala and Pilar Orero led the session on 30 June, providing a space to discuss how collaboration between academia and industry can boost research impact in the field of translation and interpreting. The workshop highlighted ongoing partnerships at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona’s TransMedia Catalonia Research Group, including projects like ALFIE, as well as the ClearClimate and ACCESSCAT networks.
Thirty participants joined the interactive session, which combined presentations with hands-on group exercises to encourage participants to explore collaboration opportunities within their own research contexts.
The EST Congress offered an inspiring forum to share ideas, address challenges, and explore new pathways for meaningful cooperation between academia and industry stakeholders — an objective at the heart of the ALFIE project.
