ALFIE presented at the AIS25 Science Summit in Copenhagen
The ALFIE project was presented at the Science Summit 2025 (AIS25), held 3–4 November in Copenhagen, Denmark. AIS25 launched the Resource for AI Science in Europe (RAISE), bringing together scientists, industry leaders, investors and policymakers to discuss a responsible, Europe-centred approach to AI-driven research. Estella Oncins from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona presented the ALFIE poster titled “AI as an Interdisciplinary Enabler: Case Studies and Ethical Challenges” by Zenon Lamprou, Haris Shekeris, Pilar Orero and Konstantinos Avgerinakis. UAB presents ALFIE at Festival Inclús, Barcelona
The UAB will present ALFIE at Festival Inclús – Barcelona International Disability Film Festival, an event dedicated to promoting audiovisual works that address functional diversity. The Festival aims to broaden public understanding of disability from new perspectives while fostering accessible audiovisual practices. It also plays a key role in bringing cinema closer to audiences who often encounter barriers to cultural participation. The Official Selection includes short and feature-length films, both fiction and documentary, as well as awards for audiovisual productions created by organisations in the field. Day One and Two: ALFIE 2nd General Assembly in Thessaloniki, Greece
The ALFIE consortium held its second General Assembly on November 6 and 7 in Thessaloniki, Greece. The meeting focused on project developments, including the current progress of the ETD Hub, AutoML, and the different use cases. Partners reviewed technical updates and shared insights on ongoing work across all project components. A key part of the discussions centered on aligning the project with ethical and trustworthy AI practices, ensuring compliance with the EU AI Act and GDPR. ALFIE Workshop on Ethics in Thessaloniki, Greece
Consortium members outside the National Centre for Research and Technology Development (CERTH) during the ALFIE events in Thessaloniki. Day One: ALFIE Workshop on Ethics On the 6th of November, ALFIE held a hybrid workshop on AI ethics and data management at Certh headquarters in Thessaloniki, Greece. Experts from DBC, University of Brighton, and Kinit presented about the current EU regulatory landscape including information about the AI Act and GDPR, data management and data protection protocols. On 26 September 2025, ALFIE proudly hosted an Affiliate Session as part of Digital@UNGA, the flagship global platform powered by ITU and UNDP that highlights how digital innovation connects, empowers, and transforms lives. Our session, “A Digital Tool Towards Understanding Ethical and Legal Applications of Artificial Intelligence,” brought together world leaders, innovators, and changemakers at UN Headquarters and online to explore one of the most urgent questions of our time: How can we ensure AI serves humanity responsibly — and inspires us to imagine better futures? Affiliate Sessions share the same mission as Digital@UNGA’s Anchor Event: to spotlight how digital can connect, uplift, and empower.

ALFIE at the European Researchers’ Night 2025
