We are pleased to invite AI professionals, researchers, and developers to take part in a short survey as part of the ALFIE research project, funded by the European Union’s Horizon Europe programme. The survey takes just 5 to 7 minutes to complete and offers a valuable opportunity to contribute to the future of responsible and trustworthy AI.
The purpose of this survey is to explore how ethical principles and frameworks are actually applied in the real-world development and deployment of artificial intelligence. While many ethics guidelines and tools have been created in recent years, we still know relatively little about how (and whether) they are being used in practice. This is your chance to help close that gap with your experience and insights.
We are especially interested in hearing from those who have worked with AI ethics tools, frameworks, or institutional guidelines—whether in academia, industry, government, or civil society. Your perspective can help us understand what works, what doesn’t, and where the key challenges lie when it comes to implementing ethical and responsible AI practices.
Through this research, we aim to answer questions such as:
What tools and frameworks are truly being used in AI projects today?
Who uses them, in which contexts, and for what purposes?
What kinds of barriers—technical, organizational, or cultural—stand in the way of effective implementation?
And perhaps most importantly, what good practices or creative workarounds have emerged from teams already tackling these questions?
All responses to the survey are fully anonymous, and the findings will contribute to developing practical, evidence-based guidance for future responsible AI initiatives across Europe and beyond.

We also encourage you to share this survey with colleagues, collaborators, and professional networks who may be involved in AI development or ethical oversight. The more diverse the input, the more meaningful and impactful the results will be.
Thank you for helping us build a more responsible and inclusive future for AI.
